National Apprenticeship Week And National Careers Week
At The Salesian Academy of St John Bosco, we are proud to guide our young people towards fulfilling and purposeful career paths; as we all know, you're never too young to start preparing for the future and it has been so exciting to see how our fantastic pupils have engaged with all of the new resources and opportunities on offer.
During our Careers Fair, Years 7, 8 and 9 were tasked with the challenge of finding out about skills required by employers, and Years 10 and 11 had the opportunity to find out about different post-16 routes and local market information.
This year, we have offered a variety of careers events and activities to help the whole school learn more about their future professional options.
Our pupils have given excellent feedback on these experiences; if you would like to find out more about career pathways and opportunities at SASJB, take a look at our Careers Hub, here.
During National Apprenticeship week, we were joined by the Salesians and Salesian Sisters for a special Careers Event; Fr Gerry and Sister Pauline spoke to pupils were able to enquire about Salesian life and receive a lovely, colourful rosary each.
As a school, we work with a range of local organisations and employers to provide the best opportunities for our pupils, encouraging them to be innovative by considering T- Levels, or to take the leap into work experience for our higher year groups.
During National Careers Week, we celebrated the success of our pupils. Well done to our Year 7 pupil who won our Careers Fair Challenge - pupils were set a challenge to interview employers/colleges/apprenticeship providers to find out what they need to achieve to be successful.
Our winning pupil won a £25 Amazon voucher and here is what she had to say:
I thought the Careers Fair was useful because I liked meeting the people who came, they were friendly and helped me find out what skills I need for the future.
