Celebrating St John Bosco's Feast Day
During February, our whole school embraced the celebrations for the Feast of St John Bosco, a very special day in our calendar.
Each pupil participated in a range of enjoyable enrichment and education activities that provided them with an opportunity to create joyful memories as a community and reflect and celebrate the Salesian ethos of our school.
Don Bosco was a priest who made the education and faith of young people a priority, through this he transformed lives.
His influence and inspiration is still alive today. He famously said:
“Young people need to know they are loved.”
We work to live out this principle every day at the Salesian Academy of St John Bosco. Take a look at some of the photos from the celebrations, including a very special message from our local cinema!
During our Feast Day, pupils first participated in school liturgy, where Fr Jacob explained how we live out Don Bosco's dream for young people in our Academy.
Our pupils later participated in a range of activities that included a Don Bosco Table- Tennis tournament - congratulations to Justice, the overall winner! Prizes awaited all participants, and many enjoyed playing and watching the games.
At the end of the day, we gathered for our final and most important moment - Holy Mass in our school chapel. We were blessed to have Fr Bob Gardner, Chair of Governors, preside over the Mass for staff and parents.
We were grateful to gather together and thank God for all the blessings we have received through the intercession of Saint John Bosco.
